About this place
Set meals of stir-fried liver and chives, pork with egg and wood ear mushrooms, and sweet-and-sour pork make lunch at Kacho Shuka a good option when you want a substantial meal with rice. One diner enjoyed the liver and chives with rice, soup, finely sliced pickled daikon and almond tofu. On another visit, they preferred the pork, egg and wood ear mushroom stir-fry. A review also notes that the sweet-and-sour pork is made with what seems to be layers of thinly sliced meat rather than the more familiar cubes, making it easy to eat.
One diner describes the mapo tofu set meal arriving in a sizzling stone pot, with a pleasing balance of heat and numbing spice. Alongside rice-based set meals, the menu includes mapo tofu noodles and mapo tofu yakisoba, offering a couple of ways to enjoy the dish with noodles.
Gyoza make another tempting addition to a meal. The menu lists seafood pan-fried gyoza (6 pieces), boiled gyoza (6 pieces) and prawn pan-fried gyoza (7 pieces). One diner found the pan-fried gyoza generous in size and satisfying, so a plate could also work well as an extra to share.
For an evening meal, one diner enjoyed beer with century egg tofu and Sichuan-style chicken, followed by almond tofu for dessert. Shaoxing wine is available poured from a jar, as well as in aged varieties including 3 and 5 years. Whether you want a filling set meal at lunch or small dishes and drinks in the evening, the menu offers different ways to enjoy Chinese cooking.
